The Code of conduct on the principles of fair conduct by financial organizations engaged in retail lending came into force

The Code of conduct on the principles of fair conduct by financial organizations engaged in retail lending (hereinafter referred to as: Code) came into force on 1st January 2010.
The institutions joined the Code shall fully comply with the principles of the Code during their activities of retail lending and leasing.

According to the Code, the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority (HFSA) regularly oversees the compliance with the provisions of the Code and publishes on its website the observations and the ratings established in the course of such inspections.

Besides the list of the institutions joined the Code, the HFSA publishes on its website the list of those institutions which deal with retail lending and leasing but has not joined the Code. Furthermore, the HFSA publishes the list of those institutions not dealing with retail lending and leasing thus these institutions need not join the Code.

The list of

Several institutions signalled their intentions to join the Code when the Code came into force. These institutions informed the HFSA that they can only join the Code after fulfilling certain conditions. The HFSA decided to put these institutions on the list of „the institutions intent to join the Code” instead of the list of „the institutions not joining the Code”. After 3 month of the Code’s coming into force, the HFSA ended the list of „the institutions intent to join the Code”. Those institutions, which have not sent their statement to the HFSA, have been transferred onto the list of “the institutions not joining the Code”.
