3 Level 3 Committees, the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS), the
Committee of European Insurance and Occupational Pension Supervisors (CEIOPS), and
the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR), operate jointly in all
areas with cross-sector relevance. The cooperation between the supervisory committees
CEBS, CEIOPS and CESR has increased in importance. The three committees have prioritized
the work to make each sector guidelines and advice on regulations as consistent
as possible with other financial sectors.
The committees signed on 24 November 2005 a first Joint Protocol to foster co-operation
and coordination in the areas of regulation, policy, information exchange and
other tasks with a common interest. On 8 December 2008 the three Level 3 Committees
have updated their Joint Protocol coordinating their joint 3L3 activities, in
order to take into account the increasing importance attached to the coordination
between the three Committees and agreed a formal procedure to facilitate the coordination
of joint 3L3 activities
The committees have agreed on a common cross-sector work programme for 2006.
The 3L3 work programme for 2007 has also been developed in accordance with the
Joint Protocol of 24 November 2005.
